“I think this program is for any couple who is having issues, whether you’re married or not. When I read about this book and the authors, I felt drawn to it. I have been married for 20 years, and we have had our ups and downs. We are in a down season, so I was very interested in this program. This program covered all of the aspects of marriage: the good, the less than good, and the not so good at all.
The first thing that struck me as I went through the program was their total transparency and openness to their readers. There isn’t a magic solution to fix your marriage, but there is a biblical one. They give readers a framework from The Bible using Nehemiah's story in his efforts to restore Jerusalem's walls after the Israelite's exile and captivity.
This program is full of biblically based materials that are helpful for Christians to heal and restore their marriage. It applies scriptures to every aspect of the program in order to proactively strengthen and safeguard the marriage. At the end of each chapter, there is a prayer included for couples to help facilitate healing.
I didn't realize there was a religious aspect until I had started the program. It would have been nice if it was stated a bit more clearly in the summary or on the cover that this program has a lot of Christian influence in it.
Other than that, it has great tips and advice on what you can do to patch things up with your significant other. It even has a ton of additional information in the form of an eBook, a four-hour audio course, a seven-part video series and hands-on worksheets for couples to do together. There’s also a bonus set of 3 eBooks that will help you along your journey into healing your relationship.
This program doesn't stop at just healing your relationship. They make it clear that the work doesn't stop, actually most of the work begins after healing. Marriage is something that needs constant attention. I could feel their emotions in their writing and their willingness to bring the readers into their private world showing that no one's marriage is perfect.
Even though my husband and I didn’t have some of the issues mentioned in this program, this is one of those things that will stay with me for a very long time as we work on our marriage. I will keep going through the material over and over again to learn about things that I probably missed or that didn’t apply to me the first time.
This program really brings a lot of emotions out as you’re going through it. I found myself laughing in some parts, crying in others, and seeing where I have work to do. I highly recommend this program to anyone who is married, no matter what season, it really is relevant.”
Lucy SmithMarried for 20 Years It’s not exactly what I was looking for, but surprisingly, it became a wonderful resource for me. This program is filled with scripture-based suggestions that helped to strengthen my marriage.
It’s not only for couples who have separated and wish to reunite, but it’s also for couples who want to see their marriage continue to grow and thrive.
There are 12 chapters that recommend ideas to deepen intimacy, offer solutions to effectively handle past conflicts, and identify the roadblocks that commonly stall relationship progress.
One chapter is solely about the subject of prayer, both individually and as a couple. Another chapter encourages couples to assess the progress of their relationship by regularly having mini marriage retreats. Mini marriage retreats are for couples to set aside time to assess goals, discuss feelings and deepen communication and commitment to each other.
Each chapter is linked to video podcasts to further explain the concepts and tools presented. There are reactive and proactive suggestions, such as journaling, relying on Godly mentors for support and wisdom, and using a prayer scrapbook to help couples work through the ideas and the concepts that are presented. Each chapter ends with a prayer, suggestions and questions for further consideration.
The authors also share personal stories from other couples and give helpful resources for building a stronger marriage bond based on Scripture, particularly the book of Nehemiah.
In addition to scriptures and stories of other couples, this program offers the importance of staying rooted in the Word and in Prayer.
This is an encouraging and helpful program for any married couple. It gave me tips and ways to improve my marriage that I still use today. Anyone can benefit from knowing how to prevent serious damage from occurring in your marriage or how to repair your marriage after something devastating happens.
Oliver JonesMarried for 11 Years This is a good read - even if everything seems good in your marriage now. Marriage takes work and this will give you great suggestions. It’s a great resource for anyone struggling with relationships. It is an easy to read, and easy to follow list of things to do in order to get the relationships in your life in order. God first, and then others follow.
The authors strongly encourage couples to deepen their individual relationships with God first, and build up from there, which seems like basic solid advice, but sadly overlooked by many Christian couples.
The goal is to help everyone who reads this have a healing in their relationship.
There are stories from other couples whom have divorced and remarried, so there is definitely a need for this type of program, and one based on God, his word and prayer. There are also video podcasts that will enhance the reading and learning in each and every chapter. At the end of each chapter, there are discussion questions and exercises for couples to use also. Beyond just a bonus!!
There are many examples for healthy communication, like praying and studying the Bible together. There are also effective preventative tools to guard against spiritual attacks.
I have found many good suggestions for myself in this program. We are in a different place, but then we always are, life is always changing, and changing us. I believe anyone can pick up this book and start today to make some wonderful changes to your life and marriage. You don't need to do everything at once, but there are many tried and true ideas that you can try over time.
I would recommend this program to all who have any questions about how to get where you want to be.
